Re-discovery and the Barista

I re-discovered my blog just recently. I was practicing the most narcissistic activity of googling myself when I noticed that I started this blog almost four years ago and promptly forgot about it. Busy me.
I miss writing about my goings-on, so here I am starting it up again.
At this point in my life, I am at a strange juncture. I feel very confident that I am moving in the direction of my dreams, however I am stuck in a quagmire of expectations. And love. More on that later.
So, poised on the precipice of success, I have no idea whether to jump, parachute, rappel, or slowly slither into the success waiting for me. This dilemma needs tending to.

A funny thing happened in Starbucks recently.

The Barista (coffee girl) gushing to her gal pal could not be ignored. Slyly facing my good ear towards the two blond beauties, I honed in on the topic of conversation: a man...

Barista: "I met someone."
Gal Pal: "Oh my GAWD! That is so like, totally, awesome!"
Barista: "Totally. He is so awesome. But there is one thing."
Gal Pal: "Oh my gosh, you have to tell me. What is it?"
Barista: "He is SOOOOOOOOOOO OLD!"
Gal Pal: "How old is he?"
Barista: "27."

...And I took my 30 year old ass and my good ear right on out of that conversation.
Until next time, good day and happy eavesdropping.

You know that part in that Adam Sandler movie, "Big Daday," when his girlfriend leaves him for OLD BALLS? That's how I feel.

My name is Ben Johnson, and I am old balls.
